The CMP Group have developed 3D Printed and Injection Moulded Medical Testing Kits to assist the Australian Government and Hospitals with Covid-19 Testing.

As shortages of crucial medical components continues to sweep the country, the CMP Group of Companies, which comprises of Custom Mould Plastics Pty Ltd, CMP Controls Pty Ltd, CMP New Zealand Limited and CMP Industrial Pty Ltd, have consolidated research and capabilities to accelerate Australian capacity to mass-manufacture testing kits in response to covid-19.

Using both medical 3D printing and injection moulding to develop the kits, the CMP Group aims to have capacity to supply both the Australian and New Zealand market with a complete solution.

Currently there are a total of 6,875 cases across Australia and recently the Prime Minister announced testing will be increased to help fight the virus.

“We have one of the best testing regimes in the world and are working to ramp that up even more. Currently over 371,000 tests have been completed…” Scott Morrison.

Working with the Government and local designers, CMP have developed what they call ‘smart testing tubes’, which combine safe, easy-to-use testing swabs for medical professionals that are supplied and delivered in smart, test tube packaging. The products are currently going through Government Laboratory testing, with the aim being to deliver this high-end, complete solution which will be manufactured locally and deployed in the field immediately.

This ability to adapt and pivot capabilities to assist the country has been evident across the entire Australian manufacturing sector. From Queensland based food manufacturer Trisco Foods developing and launching its own brand of clinical-grade hand sanitiser, through to Victorian company Gekko Systems advancing production plans for ventilators, manufacturers across Australia have shown extraordinary levels of ingenuity, entrepreneurship and adaptability – combining capabilities with creative-thinking and delivering exceptional results.

Dr. Jens Goennemann, Managing Director of Advanced Manufacturing Growth Centre AMGC, believes Australian manufacturers want to assist their country.

“The Australian manufacturing sector has a significant role to play as we navigate our way through this challenging time, and an equally important role in Australia’s recovery. Together, as a nation, we will emerge from this resilient, stronger, and more self-sufficient than ever before.” Said Dr. Goennemann.

The Advanced Manufacturing Growth Centre (AMGC) introduced a portal for Australian manufacturing, component suppliers and skilled design, engineering and manufacturing staff to register their interest and core competencies in support of the national response to COVID-19.
